A transmission manufacturer came to Polk seeking a partner to help them understand their market share by total industry and individual truck OEM. They also lacked a tool to measure distributor performance.

Solution:

Polk’s solution began with the company’s owner file, containing VINs and proprietary information. Polk performed a VIN match between that file and Polk’s Vehicles in Operation (VIO) and New Truck files. Detailed information is supplied on the matched VINs, the proprietary data is appended and sent back to the company in three separate files:

• VIO Summed – a look at Polk’s entire VIO database (over 50 million records) on a summary level
• VIO Matched – all VIO records that matched to a company record on a detailed level
• New Truck Summed – a file of our entire New vehicle database (another 50 million + records) on a summary level
