Sr. Network Administrator

Position Summary:

Responsible for the ensuring 24 x 365 availability of the all open systems infrastructure world-wide. Responsibilities of this position include installing, configuring, maintaining servers and monitoring health of overall enterprise-wide infrastructure services. Responsible for all email services, networking, remote access, and data center support functions. Work collaboratively with many groups to devise and implement an effective delivery services strategy for a World Class Operations.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Currently responsible for developing a vision, strategy, and implementation plan for monitoring and managing the Enterprise environment world wide.
  • Data Center Support functions world wide.
  • Administer, monitor, support and enhance email services provided by the Infrastructure Support Services team. Those services include:
      • Exchange 5.5, 2000 and 2003 server management
      • SharePoint Portal and Live Communications Server
      • Email anti-spam and anti-virus systems
      • Outlook Web Access, Outlook Mobile Access
      • Mobile email including Blackberry, Activesync systems
  • Administer, monitor and support all Microsoft Windows services, including:
      • Active Directory
      • Group Policy
      • Global replication
      • Disaster Recovery
      • MS SQL Server
      • Other COTS and Custom Polk Server Applications
  • Support for users including:
      • Client support (Outlook 2003, XP, 2003, MS Moblie, Blackberry, Treo, SmartPhone and others)
      • Permissions distribution list, mailbox, and public folder administration
      • Third Level Desktop Support
      • Remote Access: Citrix, VPN and Dial-up
      • Training, job aids, and documentation
  • Administer, monitor and support all Network services, including:
      • Firewalls
      • Switches
      • Routers
      • DNS
      • WAN/LAN Connectivity
      • VPN
      • RADIUS
      • Wireless Networking
      • IP Routing

Secondary Responsibilities

  • Administer, monitor, and enhance additional services provided by the Infrastructure Support Services team. Those services include:
      • Active Directory domain (OU, Group Policy, delegation, etc.)
      • Windows 2003 features (DNS, DHCP, DFS, VSS, LDAP)
      • Role and permissions management framework
  • Provide escalation support for various IT teams throughout the company for nearly any technology issue including server, network, desktop, account, permission, policy, best-practice, implementation, etc.
  • Provide break/fix support for several multi-layer applications including internally developed and third-party applications
  • Assist with development and ongoing maintenance of disaster recovery and business continuance plans for enterprise applications and services
  • Rotates into PC Support team responsibilities to learn the overall process and advance skills.
  • Third Level Desktop Support including Desktop management solutions
  • Backup strategies, software and hardware, including tape libraries and VTL
  • Network Attached Storage Strategies and Devices
  • Storage Area Network Strategies and Devices including SAN Switches
  • Performs other duties as requested by management

Relationships/Contacts:

Works closely with internal customers, Infrastructure team members and Polk world wide employees. Some external customer contact may be required.

Leadership/Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position does not supervise anyone. It is expected that this person will mentor others on team to understand and distribute knowledge.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BS degree or equivalent work experience in related field.
  • 3 to 5 years of hands on Microsoft Exchange Administrator experience in a production level environment, including expert knowledge of Microsoft Exchange server and client software
  • 3 to 5 years experience using Windows Active Directory
  • MCSE with concentration in Exchange or related experience
  • Exchange server hardware setup and storage RAID configuration and clustering
  • Exchange server diagnostic abilities and troubleshooting skills.
  • Sharepoint and Live Communication Server knowledge
  • Familiarity with network switching, routing and related functions
  • Must have experience in the planning, staging and production release of software and hardware upgrades that include adequate testing and communication to the user community to ensure 24 x 365 availability of the e-Mail Infrastructure.
  • Must have an excellent understanding of Microsoft Exchange related technologies including Anti-Spam, Anti-Virus
  • Must have an excellent understanding of Infrastructure monitoring and notification processes
  • Absolutely MUST understand the fundamental difference between production and non-production environments and proof of experience working in a mature operations environment.

Other Requirements:

  • Some travel is required.
  • Some overtime may be involved on an as needed basis.
  • Availability for on call rotations is required for this position.
  • Periodic Downtime availability is a requirement for this position.
